Here are some of my photographs from a recent trip. Tell me what you think. Thanks.
Paris
Florence
Rome
Overall, I was disappointed. But this was my first real Euro trip, and I was so eager and excited, dreaming of capturing incredible scenes and using all of the 50 rolls I brought. I did not count on how busy I would be, spending most of my time in museums and at sites etc. I only used 9 of the 50 rolls. I believe that next time I go on vacation, I'll take things a little slower, and take more time out to simply wonder around just me and my camera.

To be disappointed after a trip to these towns seems to be normal. The optical input is too heavy. I found for me that some time between the trip and the editing is helpful. You caught some great pictures there!

My M5s need red dots!
What are you disappointed at? The place? Yourself?
I really liked "Waiter's Break." I'd be pretty happy instead.

I agree. Some very nice street photos there - not just the usual snapshots.

I understand the feeling of missing out on photo opportunities, but try not to be too disappointed. You were at the sites & museums probably absorbing the culture around you and that's something special in and of itself. I've been on the other end where my mind is too focused on getting a good capture that I missed the sounds and smell of the city around me... it's a balance you'll have to play with when out on an incredible vacation. You know the solution to this don't you? Go back!

I wasn't disappointed by the trip; the places, scenes, culture and things I saw. The experience was amazing. I had just imagined getting more photos, and better ones, than I did. I suppose I was just so excited and my daydreams got ahead of me.
JKY- going back is definitely the solution. This just strengthened my desire to travel EVERYWHERE! I want to go on an Asian trip next. I have family in Korea, so I have been there many times. But I really want to see China, India, Indonesia, and Nepal.

Petronius, I like your blog. Your black and white photos have a very calm feel to them, at least for me. Very detail-oriented. Very nice.

Thank you Timothy. I looked at your blog with some more time now and there are some very strong keepers in your italian photos. The waiter and the ladies is a nice one, but the visual power of this creepy looking newspaper lady is amazing and hard to beat. (I would never have the b*lls to take such a shot) I would have converted some of the pictures to B&W, but thats mostly a matter of taste. Great work overall!

Timothy -- I looked at your photos, too, and I really liked what I saw there. I particularly liked your Paris collection, including Waiter's Break and the shots you took along the Seine embankment. The color images in the museums and parks are delightful! I also like to photograph people interacting w/ art, so the shot of the Mona Lisa and in the Quai d'Orsay resonated w/ me. And I certainly agree w/ Petronius about your Rome set. Great work. Keep shooting!

Enjoy Life.
Timothy- As someone who travels to Paris quite often and loves to shoot there I think you did a beautiful job! Your shots were those of a street shooter, not the usual tourist or first time visitor shots. I thought there was a lot to like in the set.
I hope you enjoyed your stay, it's a wonderful place to visit.

There are some very nice shots there.
I only flicked through them, as I have to shoot off shortly, but I am going to have a proper look through when I get home tonight.

I think you've done well on your first trip to Europe. To get really good photos you ideally would not be trying to to visit a place for the first time and also trying capture beautiful moments. I think you've done well given the circumstances. Perhaps on your next trip, you'll be able to focus more on the photos and not the sights.
