I was recently looking for one of these adapters and hadn't realized 3rd party makers (sold from China) are now selling them on ebay.

I get the impression that they are just a tube with contact wires going through, so in theory it shouldn't make much difference if it is 3rd party but of course build quality will be suspect.

Has anyone tried them? I'm not looking to attach any heavy, pro 4/3 glass - just the kit zooms and a 35mm macro.

I haven't heard of them. How expensive are they?

I aks because the Panasonic adapter (DMW-MA1) is much less expensive than the Olympus ones. Yes, it is still $100, but there is no play and no issues with exact adapter depth.

With my chinese OM to 4/3 adapter I can focus past infinity because the adapter is the tiniest bit too short. And there is a tiny bit of play.

With the Panasonic it was a solid as a direct body mount. No play, no focus issues. I've since replaced the Panasonic with the weather sealed Olympus, and I can't tell the difference (so if you aren't looking for weather sealing, save the money and get the Panasonic).

I've heard of occasional problems on various forums. Stick with the Panasonic or Olympus mount adapters.

About $40 shipped. Cheap enough to be very tempting, but expensive enough that I'd hate to burn the money if it was crap.

I suppose that was to be expected. Thanks for chiming in. Unfortunately for the $100 or more dollars for an official adapter it's almost not worth it to even bother with a couple 4/3 kit lenses.
