i just got a yashica gtn. they battery seems fine. the battery light comes on when i hit the battery check switch. when im outdoors. i cant see the exposure arrows. is this common or do i have a dud? can this be fixed?

Do you wear glasses? I have both a GT and GSN and I have to kinda look up in the range finder to easily see the arrows. They are bright enough except in bright sun but in the upper end of the finder.

yes, i do wear glasses. i seem to have push down just a little more to get the yellow arrow to light up though. just wondering if its the dreaded pad of death that i read about on yashica guys website.
of course i have no problem seeing the arrow indoors.

If you can see both arrows (be it in dim light for the "slow" or under bright sunlight for the "over" arrow) it means that -at least- the meter is working and no POD problems are (supposedly) at sight.

You can check it (with no film inside) indoors for long exposure times, and outdoors for short exposure times. If it´s OK, both lights should turn on when lighting conditions force the camera to shoot at less than 1/30th or faster than 1/500th.

Later, and after this previous check showed to be OK, load any suitable film, say ISO 200shoot, and wait till the prints come home.
If everything is OK, you´ll be gratefully surprised!

Cheers

Ernesto
