I managed to lose both my 21D and 12D finders last week!
In both cases they were on an RD1 on my shoulder, whilst I was using another body to shoot in a very excitable crowded place, in both cases just knocked/fell off in the scrum I think.
Luckily I was able to borrow a Leica 21/24/28 finder for the last day of the shoot which filled in for the 21D, this had a screw down shoe [similar to a nikon flash unit] which meant you couldn't lose it!
I am just about to order a new pair from CQ [unless there are couple of used ones out there looking for a new home?] , anyone got any ideas for securing them better [apart from the obvious gaffer tape which is a bit slow on a lens change]
Great shoot though!

Ouch, two finders lost in a week, that hurts soul and moneybag...

CV finders slipping off is a quite common issue as they have a hollow space at the bottom side and the contact surface to the shoe is quite small. I have put a thin, but strong transparent scotch tape on the bottom surfaces of my 15 and 15D foots. Works well.

I'm sorry to hear that Clive. I've not heard of CV finders being loose before, I have 3 and they're all tight, doesn't matter which camera.

Hi chaps
Yes, two more on their way from CQ as we speak..................:bang:
I too had put a layer of scotch tape on the bottom of both to make them a tighter fit in the shoe, not tight enough though!
I was actaully in both caes in right in the middle of a really excited crowd [I mean crowd] of people , whilst covering the Palio di Siena [go here for an explanation http://www.initaly.com/info/palio/palio.htm in both caes the VF was on second body over right shoulder whilst other in use, second time at altar of cathedral surrounded by about 3000 crazy happy people from the winning contrada!
Second time the body I was shooting with had a big chunky Leica 21/24/28 finder I had borrowed which has a screw down shoe so you can' lose it, vastly superiorin this respect, the 28 just TOO wide for a 21 on Rd-1, impossible to lose off camera with this system.................................ah well, no way Ican get the same thing on a voigt finder ...................................unless my friendly reapair guy can think of something........................................will report back!

Beautifully made
rock solid mounting
useful frame combo for std. 35
Negative
Too big [huge!]
Heavy so camera on strap tends to end up top down
Not a brightline finder, so like looking through an SLR, which IMHO misses the whole point [I want to see outside the frame too]
