There has been some discussion about scratched eyeglass lenses from some of our beloved/bemoaned FSU cameras, but, for me the worst perpetrator of this is actually the turret VF.
I have also mentioned using small rubber "O-rings" as a quick cure for this.
I lost the last ring I'd put on the VF and needed a new one--after 3 or 4 years--since I now have an OK digi camera, I thought I'd post these:

Apparently, I need to start buying dust colored gear!
I use a couple of very small dots of contact cement to keep it in place.
59 cents each from Ace Hardware.
The ones I use on the Kiev and Zorki are similar, but slightly larger.

I use the gummed hole reenforcements, the kind that they sell to keep the holes in looseleaf paper from tearing out.

The sam size (nr. 9 O-Ring) fits the 675 size batteries (mercuries e.g.) to make them size 625.
