Thank you Dimitri, for this gorgeous camera and lens!
I held an F3 about 25 years ago and it left an indelible impression on me. Buying one at that time was beyond my wildest dreams. $$$
Has anyone got a spare lower half case?
The only thing better than an F3 is 2x F3. I'm going to look at another one on Saturday from a local buy/sell list that comes with a couple of lenses I already have, a flash, and motordrive. If I sell these off, it would make the camera body very affordable. (<$100)

Try the F3 group on Flickr - it's not especially lively, so you won't have too many discussions to search through. There's a chap on there who seems to have a knack of finding F3 cases - name currently escapes me, I' afraid.
I have only one problem with my F3 - the nut that operates the shutter...

I've owned Nikons for 40 years never used a case. You don't put a case around a rock. Congratulations...enjoy.

Thanks guys. I'll see if I can get used to it, but I thought a case would make it easier to hold on to.

Frank,
Congrats on a great new friend.
One suggestion on making your F3 even better (at least IMHO) is picking up a P screen. They are, or at least were a year ago, easier to find for the F3 than the F/F2. The P is my favorite for just about every application.

Hear, hear. Years after having moved on to the high-tech SLR du jour, I still regarded the F3 as a high-water mark in SLR design and build quality. I had two, and definitely worked them quite a bit. Were it not for the fact that SLRs are simply not my main shootin' iron any more, I might have a hankering for another.I held an F3 about 25 years ago and it left an indelible impression on me. Buying one at that time was beyond my wildest dreams. $$$
BTW, the Money Order for the Contax Tvs went out seemingly moments before the camera hit my doorstep today (would've gone out a bit sooner if I didn't have a few small emergencies to tend to). I had just enough time today to shoot a test roll (Reala) to see how it shapes up; I'll do a few quick scans literally the moment after ai write this. Thanks!

I have recently been enjoying a new F3. i had my heart set on an all mechanical slr, but I received the F3 free from my uncle who wasn't using it. I was going to sell it to help fund a trip to Paris, but I decided not to because it is a joy to use. So now it will probably be my main camera in Paris, despite only having a 50mm for it.
Also I personally think it is the best looking 35mm slr that I have seen.

I recently picked up a late model F3HP myself. Heading up to Tokyo tonight for a week and, although I'm a certified rangefinder type of guy, I have decided to take just the F3 this time, along with a 20mm, 40mm & 75mm
