After a bit of googling it has been mentioned a few times but I've not found anyone thats actually converted the F36, I have a few F36s and thinking of giving it a try what do you think or has anyone done it or got one converted?
Cheers.

Its definitely possible. There's a few F36 to S36 conversions floating around the used camera shops in Japan. Some of them are made to look like real S36 motors right down to the engravings and serial numbers, and priced accordingly too. Buyers need to be really careful they're not buying a conversion being passed off as the real thing.

Looking inside not sure if there is enough space to shorten the whole thing.

This I think is the easiest place to cut, maybe take the speed controller out I always use the drive on low anyway.

This has been discussed before at the Nikon Historic Society because I made an inquiry about doing it/having it done when I got my first S3.
Here is the link to that discussion;

At the moment the pack will fit like this, but I may move it a bit.
