As I discovered toward the end of my review of my new Canon L1 (and comparison to my P and Leica IIIC) the fabric shutter has a neat 1/4" circular fabric patch that's coming loose, causing the shutter to hang (noticed first with slow speeds). :bang:

The seller 's doing the right thing, issuing a fair Paypal credit...I knew about the patch, was assured the shutter would fine, but it turned out not to have been glued well.

What's the best flexible glue for such patches? The glue on this patch appears to be very flexible but was evidently not enough.

I've seen various recommendations about Elmers glue, black latex glop, and Liquitex etc without fabric patch, but I've not seen anything about patching WITH fabric...and I know that's what some repair techs do... I'm not convinced the fabric is necessary, either...it appears to only cover a pinhole...

Ideas?

I use pliobond when I install new shutter curtains. I have replaced old curtains that had patches and it looked like pliobond had been used.

I removed the patch and applied a 1/8" dot of "liquid electrical tape".
Looks a lot better than a patch! I'll test in sunlight and report!
