I've been a black and white photographer and photography fan forever and am just starting to open up to color. Love some suggestions on people to check out. Already know Eggleston and like his aesthetic. Looking for more street and maybe fashion photographers. Contemporary preferably. I do like the snapshot Terry Richardson/Jurgen Teller aesthetic. Not looking for technical perfection, just interestingness.
Really just looking for inspiration.

Try Raghu Rai and Raghubir Singh. There's lots of good stuff in India.

I like Emily Shur's work - both her commercial (celebrity portraits) and personal (Egglestone/Shore-esque) stuff.
If you're more looking for street photography, Matt Stuart is pretty fantastic as well. There's a particularly good video floating about the web on him, which I would highly recommend.

Fashion:
Ellen von Unwerth. She used to use very grainy, vivid color film, and she shot with a very fast, 'snappish' manner. It's more composed lately, though, as are the suggestions below.
Sheila Metzner and Sarah Moon, for much more subtle color.
Bruno Bisang. Andreas Bitesnich. Mario Testino, of course. Andrew MacPherson, Michael Thompson....
Street:
Helen Levitt, Saul Leiter.

I second Roger's choices. When i discovered Raghubir Singh some years back it was like finding there was an Indian Cartier-Bresson I had never heard of.... Eye opening doesn't begin to describe it. HC-B was rather dismissive of RB's work, however, because it was colour.

My favorite living American photographer is Alec Soth. Can't beat 10x8!
But I also love this Japanese artist named Rinko Kawauchi. She has a book coming out called Illuminance.
