FED-2 frame conter loose

I use the FED-2 by preference over a raft of cameras here but the frame counter is driving me nuts, so much so that I have no idea how many are left on the roll.
Seems that every time I wind on, I move the counter. I try to avoid touching the ring, but inevitably it gets moved anyway.
Is it difficult to tighten the counter ring? I have a bunch of spanners and screwdrivers at hand, so I don't mind diving in and checking the mechanism.
Apart from a newly developed 'squeak' when I wind on, the camera is a real gem to use. Almost silent shutter and a wide RF base for accuracy in focusing.
Any help appreciated.

Take off the wind-knob (slacken the little grub-screw in the side then unscrew the knob). The counter sits under it with a springy washer in between. You could try bending the washer more or adding a washer on top of it to get more pressure. They vary, some have a wave-washer and some have a star-washer for the "springy" part.

Might just be that the wind knob has unscrewed a turn or two.
