My birthday present from my wife arrived the other day. A 100 sheet box of this film which, at the price of $29.95 for those 100 sheets, is cheap enough for me to keep making my mistakes with :bang: 🙄 :bang:

It came in a simple white box that was the size for 5x7 film, though correctly labeled. In the changing bag was my first surprise - it's only simple boxed rather than nested in three boxes like the other sheet films I've used. Since I still had the box around from my (partial) 100 sheet box of Tmax400, I've transfered the film into it via my changing bag. There was a small data sheet in the box giving suggestions for developers & times and that's about it. Other than that, it seems like reasonable sheet film. It handles easily enough, was easy to slip into the film holders and doesn't seem soft to me.

I've shot 4 test sheets, totally blowing the exposure on the first two. I went back today with my VC Meter II and metered the dark area under the bridge at ISO100. This gave me f8@1/30th. The second sheet was shot at f11 for ISO200. According to the Massive Developer Chart, Fomapan 100 should be rated at 200 for Diafine. 100 seems a bit overexposed and 200 right on. OTOH, I really don't feel sure about it yet. Time for more learning I suppose... 🙂

Fomapan 100 at EI 200 in Diafine sounds good - I just shot a 120 roll of that film, accidentally rated at EI 200 (I thought that I had loaded TriX 320, which I rate at 200 for development in Rodinal, and only later found out that it was Fomapan 100, and decided to give it a try in Diafine), and was quite happy with the results (actually, this is the first film I really like in Diafine, TXP 320, Efke KB 100 and HP5+ don't work so well with this developer...)
Here are my 2 examples:

BTW, Fomapan 100 also works well in Rodinal 1+ro, but you'll have to rate it at around EI 64 to 80. But I really liked the results from Diafine, will have to check whether this combo works for wet prinitng as well as for scanning...
