Beware of Claws
Hello,
My local camera store is closing (Action Camera on Taraval). Can anyone recommend a place to drop off color and b&w film for developing/scanning in San Francisco?

I've gone to Photoworks, but they are pricey - $14 per roll for b&w develop and scan. If you just want 35mm C41 develop & scan you can get that at the Costco on 16th and Potrero for about $5. Personally, I invested in developing equipment and an epson V700 so I don't have to rely on expensive photolabs anymore.

From what I've found so far, the labs here are just expensive all-around. I've used Photoworks and Gasser's photo so far, and I've been underwhelmed by both. Photoworks scans came back muddy and really just aren't worth the $14 for poorly-corrected low-res scans. Gassers scans were better but they straight up ruined one of my rolls. They aren't cheap either but at least they compensated me for the lost roll quite well. I have seen very nice results from Lightwaves but they are also pricey. Maybe our best bet is to outsource to somewhere less expensive like Dwayne's in KS, or many of the other labs I've heard of strewn across the country.
