Hey there,

I just recently bought a 50/2 Summitar and am looking to pick-up a Canon 35/2. Because they both have different filter threads and I want to get colour filters and be able to use them on my lenses (which could later on extend to Voigtlander) interchangeably, I am wondering what kind and size of filter holder I would need to do this.

I have heard of Series filters, but I got confused about how to pick the right kind.

It seems something that can adapt to fit more lenses is more cost efficient than buying a filter in each thread size.

I don't want to have filters that are too large (which can cause flare or vignetting (?)).

If some of you could help me figure out the best route, I would be very grateful :D

Thanks a bunch :)

You need an A42 Series 6 adapter. This is a 42mm slip-on ring that accepts Series 6 filters that are then held in place by a ring or hood.

So does that mean I need to buy two step-up rings, a 39mm to 42mm and a 40mm to 42mm so the adapter fits on to each lens?

Do I buy the ring/hood separate of the Series 6 adapter?

Are they adapters and filters hard to find? Any particularily recommended brands?

thanks
