Hello, all
I own a Leica R3 and two lenses: the 50mm Summicron-R and Elmarit-R 28 mm. I would like to buy some contrast correction filters for them I'm having trouble pinning down the filter sizes for each lens, and I want to know if I need to look for Leica-only filters, or will standard sizes work?
thanks to all who reply.
With best regards.

I'm not totally sure about my memory as it's been many years since I've owned and shot with Leica R cameras, but IIRC, the original 50mm Summicron-R that came with the SL took series VI(?) drop-in filters. If the lens matches the generation of the R3, the filter size, as I recall, it was E55(?) for the Summicron. IIRC, the 28mm Elmarit was series VII and 55mm, respectively(?).

For the 28mm, version I is Series VII held on by the hood (12509), and version II is E55.
The 50mm version I is Series VI (14160) with a 12564 hood. Version II is E55 with a built-in hood.
So if your lenses are both Vers II you only need one set of filters. But they don't need to be Leica/Leitz brand.
