Further to my miss-printed post ref a silver Beetle @ £15,000 , I decided on a new one to my spec...
Guess what - UK stopped taking orders on May 3 ... good news is that VW UK offered a £3000 contribution towards all stock cars .
Frankly this means a bargain quality car so I have been chasing any which meets some of my preferences .It seemed impossible until one dealer tracked down a new car awaited from VW Mexico in Platinum Grey with OTT 18" alloys at under £17.000 [ I guess cars are more expensive in UK ] .
It's very minimal and architectural in grey and somehow links to the original grey Beetle for the 50s.
It's uncertain if the Beetle is to be updated or discontinued , but with a total saving of £3500 , it suits me for my final car .
The deposit will go in on Monday with the car arriving within 8 weeks .
i no longer have to worry that my 10,000 mile plus Alfa 147 diesel with many faults and engine management light coming on will pass MOT [ Ministry test ] or break down on me .
