So, I am sitting in a local restaurant back a few months ago with threeputt...he was letting me handle the X2 and compare it with the X1 and I was impressed. I was equally impressed with his Domke 5XB rugged wear bag in which he was carrying only the X2 and some smaller items as he was in town for the Atlanta Braves game the evening before.
Great visit with a great guy.
Been meaning to get one of the bags for sometime but haven't had any cash to let go. Until now...I checked my spare coins bag in the dresser and there is more than enough to pay for the new bag.
Since I have pretty much been out of commission in more ways than one for the past 7 weeks, I decided to treat myself to a new 5XB bag, just for the M3 and/or the X1...nothing else other than film, charger, etc. Now to wait 6 days for delivery from B&H...but waiting is what I do best these days.

i saw your post and followed on to you blog and book. Nice work! A few years ago I lived in an older part of Dunwoody. My work took me to several rural parts of Georgia, including both Coweta Co and Newnan. There are so many small little towns where time has come to a stop.
I grew up in Raleigh, NC (which I dearly miss) and parts of my family are from rural North Carolina. I'm constantly amazed at the little towns where time has stopped in some tiny corner of the world. More importantly, over the past couple of decades I've seen so many of these same places (and their history) vanish due to development. I moved away for work about 10 years ago. Now my infrequent trips home are even more poignant in the ways you mention.
Anyway, I think the work you're doing is important, especially since you take time to capture some of the personal history of these places. I had hoped to one day do something similar - when time and work and money and family permit. We'll see if that ever comes to pass.
Until then, keep up the good work.

the 5XB is such a great bag.
thinking about getting a 2nd one, just because of how simple, roomy for its size, and low key it is.
enjoy!

I've been using my 5XB for almost 20 years, maybe longer. Can't remember when I didn't have it, at this point.
Sounds like you're making steps to get back into the flow, Dave.

Hi Dave, the 5XB is a great bag! I hope it will become one of your favorites; and that it will help you get "it" back. I sense that a bit of it is back already . . .

I have a 5XA and it's "as sweet as a bees knees" for carrying camera & lens, sunglasses & cellphone, and a local map.

Ah...the 5XB Rugged Wear bag showed up on the doorstep this afternoon.
Rather impressed with this little bag, I must say. Even my bride loved the color and material.
So, I have it set up for the X1/charger/extra card/extra battery plus a few cleaning items and film for when I am using the M3 or IIIF. I suspect it will do quite well with the R4 too. Either way, I am covered for digital only, film only, digital and film, with one or two camera bodies and it allows me to go without worry of scratching/wearing the Billingham bag. It is for more casual use while the Billingham is quite the formal bag.
Not sure if I will take the Domke label off the front or not...I prefer to not have it there but am concerned about leaving the stitching holes in the material.
This bag is a winner!

Hey, Fred...now that sounds like a good bag...if you want to sell it, I would gladly pay the asking price with the cash left over as I am retiring an old waist bag which holds my R4. Turning that bag into a trout fishing bag so I don't have to walk around with all my fishing gear in a plastic bag.
