Hello all , new member alert .
After much procrastination and convincing myself that it was best to dip my toes in to the Rangefinder experience gently by buying something cheap and cheerful , I have ignored myself and bought a M6 classic in black along with a new Zeiss Biogon 35mm F2 lens .

For the last six months or so my Nikon D300 has been gathering dust whilst I run around having fun with a second hand nikon FE .
On top of that , processing my negatives at home and then spending hours of fun in the local art center's darkroom creating prints . I have to say I'm as happy as a pig in piggy stuff !
I'm sure I'm preaching to the converted here but I had forgotten the sense of achievement and slight apprehension when you take the film off the developing reel or watch the developing tray as you place the paper in , wondering what will emerge .

So , at 43 years young I am a Leica owner , who would have thought . I have a Billingham bag full of film and I'm off to play !!🙂

Edward, never too young or too old to join the foray! You're off to a great start with the M6 and the Biogon 35, enjoy taking them and creating the images that will be enjoyed in the coming years. Happy venturing!

Nice! Good luck with it all. But beware... once I took the plunge, I have bought 3 more rangefinders. And 2 medium format SLRs!

Have fun, you lucky.. um; well, M6 owner.

Regards, David

PS But watch out for the cheap and cheerful. They can sneak up on you and grab at your wallet.

Welcome! Like you, my first rangefinder was the M6 classic. And, like you, my D300 started gathering dust after my M6 purchase.

Perhaps you will buy an M3, too, as I did.

For now, enjoy the M6 and Zeiss Biogon.

Good for you going for the gold right away! Just to stir the pot, you should try out an elderly Leica-M lens, just for the comparison, say a Summicron 35, any bersion (the v.4 seems to me to be the sweetest.) Hold on to your credit card! It's gonna be quite a ride! Welcome.

Thank you for the kind words everyone .
The viewfinder is so clear , I was a little concerned about getting used to the metering display compared to the needle in the FE but it is so strait forward and easy to use .
Biggles, no scanner yet . I'm having too much fun in the darkroom but at some point it will become practical to digitize some of my pictures . I'm sure I will get round to it as the weather turns and my iMac becomes more preferable to a rain mac .

Nice one ! Welcome to the forum, keep a look out for any upcoming Northern shooting days (although they'll be southern to you lol) - usually in Manchester, a good day out with like-minded people, wish I could get to more.....

Lenses and accessories will find you, with patience, at reasonable prices - being in the right place at the right time helps, call it karma, luck or whatever.

Keep shooting ! 🙂
