despite with the new release of the r4X coming...
still....
Fedex delieverd my r3a... I tore up the box immediately because it was just so exciting! The first impressions were WOW !
I had the bessa R and loved it but the body of the R3A is so much more refined...
heavy duty plastic and metal.. I love the finish. Splatter paint which doesnt have a nose-sweat-smudge when i use the camera 😛 😛 😛

I am going to run some film through it this weekend.

oh and man. i LOVE THE 1:1 viewfinder.
its crazyyyyyyyyyy cool

Wait til you get a load of the AE! As a forever user of the OM-2, it's just like home again, 'specially when trying to take pictures of a running toddler.

Forget nose smudge. I used to be a left eye photographer with nose smudge evidence. But with the 1:1 viewfinder I went right eye and after a few days it feels natural.

Close your left eye when focussing perhaps then both eyes open and take the pictures. With this viewfinder you can do it.

Just love my R3A too. Excellent camera - well built, not to big or heavy. Metering is always spot on except for those difficult moments, but that's part of the fun. And the lenses - mm-hmm.

Yes, the timer, can't understand why it was omitted. Some of us do take family shots and are asked/want to be in them, and then there are low light shots... Anyway I bought an add on timer which screws into the shutter release. Feels rather quirky but works well. I got mine from DrT's 3D website (http://home.att.net/~drt-3d/) but they are also available from BHPhotovideo.

Good luck with the R3A.

haha i am trying to do that
but its very natural that i use my left master eye..
even for my dslr shooting
perhaps that is why my left eye glass degree is higher than my right eye :bang:

But then, not many people use a tripod with an RF 😡
yeah but i like to put the camera on a ledge or somewhere and take a photo of a group w/ myself included
:bang: darn. though the R is an entry level, I now miss the timer function
why didnt they put it in the r3 series ?!?!?!?!? :bang: :bang: :bang:

With an RF camera I have never used a self timer, a cable release, a tripod, fancy filters nor a flash.

But that's my style perhaps, and I think it fits in well with Mr Kobayashi's design philosophy.

I use the selftimer on my Yashica Electro-35s..

Sit them on a tripod at night and trip the timer.. The AE makes it easy to take good, sharp night shots.

I don't miss the feature on the R3A, but since it also has AE up to 8 seconds, it would be useful. The add-on device is quirky and I like it.

Well, thanks to this thread, I managed to snag a nifty accessory last week on ebay. I use a short cable release for tripod night shots, but this will be even better!

It's all metal, works perfectly, and was about 1/10th the price of a new one from B&H.

There are a lot on ebay too, so everyone, knock yourselves out!
