OK, I have now been the proud owner of a R-D1x since last Monday!
My first impressions are the following:
-Handling and ergonomics are excellent
-Low light shooting capability (ISO up to 1600 combined with the fact that a rangefinder does not suffer from mirror-slap like other SLRs) is good
-I find the camera better built than I imagined
-The 6 Mpix limitation is not an issue for me - I knew it before I bought the camera
-I find that, on auto exposure mode, the camera tends to under expose by 0,3 to 0,6 EV.
-Auto white balance is accurate
I use the camera with a 28mm f2.0 Ultron lens. The lens is good at f2.0. I am surprised that the actual field of view of the photos is larger than what built-in camera frame lines indicate.
I have not been able to take a lot of photos yet - the weather here in Tokyo has been quite awful this week. Here's one for the road, anyway.

it is a pity that they released this in Japan only
Else I'll be first in line to grab one.
