Well, in the end I decided that I should, at least, try it, seeing as nobody here wanted to take it off my hands. I have to say, that my initial reaction was not positive - shutter is relatively loud, its fat (compared to the MP), abysmal WB and magenta :bang: (how I hate that colour - and not just synthetics or high ISO). Good points - build quality (and a likelihood of future service) and great VF.

I used it in anger over the weekend and have started to get used to it, It does feel like a real M (as long as you don't keep switching) and the overall image quality is very good. I know that the IR cut filters will sort out the magenta issue and that the next firmware release will (most likely) sort out the WB issue - not really a problem as I shoot Raw, but an inconvenience. The upshot is that I have started to like it and I will be keeping it.

Glad to see you here Gid- surprised but glad. Your initial reaction mirrors that of my own. As you grow to like this camera you will one day very soon learn to love it as did I. Welcome aboard our expanding ship.

Cheers,
Ted
