Dear all;
Yet another first roll thread for me. For a whole suite of reasons:
1) Walmart devleoping sucks
2) They won't develop my fine art negs
3) there is no lab close to me that will develop B&W
4) at the rate I shoot, it's very expensive to mail order
5) I'm going to move to 4X5 and that's really expensive ...
I got the daylight kit, asked a few questions, then got some ultrafineonline B&W 400. The consensus is this is foma film, and ran a roll though the Contax G1.
This is a sample:
The process went smooth, way more less stuff on the negatives that I saw from walmart. Did the de-spotting in light room, its a breeze, and all in all, I'm pretty happy.

Thanks to all those who gave there tips on chemical mixing.

Success! I like the curve of the pavers/stones at lower left. Not sure what your setup is but here is a recent discussion as you move into processing your own 4x5. http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74039

water and air filters and and clean glass bottles dedicated to specific chems and a blow off before scanning will get rid of the remaining spots.
I would not even think of sending out B&W.
