Hi all,

Last weekend I got an opportunity to try my first roll of Fomapan 100. I visited the "Elektrische museumtramlijn Amsterdam". They operate a sizable fleet of old trams and have opened an old railroad line for tourists and enthousiasts.

I used my Leica M2 and my 25 Skopar and 35mm Ultron.

Foma film is very cheap over here, but it doesn't show. I souped it in Diafine as recommended by several people. For me it works! Soon I will be shooting some in medium format...

Very nice photos. Have been meaning to try the Fomapan films myself.
It looks like it was a soft bright day without harsh shadows, and the contrast seems high. Ona brighter day it might have been too much.
Any way to reduce contrast by adjusting exposure or developing this film/developer combo ?

Yes, contrast seems a little high for a relatively soft day, but remember that I pulled the scans through Photoshop and enhanced contrast there as well. Looking at the negatives with the naked eye they look just about perfect to me.

During some of the shots the sun peeked through the clouds as well but Diafine tames high contrast effectively. I think this combo will go a long way!

And as Fomapan is 'normal' traditional b/w film, you should be able to do all the usual tricks with standard developers as well. Next time we have a grey day here I might try HC-110 'B' or 'E' instead.

I'm a big fan of the FOMA papers- expecially 532, tho I really miss the first version of this paper.

I keep meaning to add some of the FOMA films to a Freestyle order but....

This is a good kick in the pants! Thanks.

nice photos, i just got some foma 400 im looking forward to trying today
I also just got 20 rolls of Fomapan 400. The literature on this film says I can push to 1600 without any changes in developing. Wow, could I have in my hands the ultimate avaialble light film? I usually shot Ilford XP2 which allows push to 800 so this is one stop better!

Do not push Fomapan 400 to iso 1600. According the data sheet of Foma it's an iso 200-250 film in most developers.
Push F+2 is normally a regular maximum so that means iso 800 for a push F+2 attempt. The film has a complete different behaviour like Tri-X (400).

You can also use the Fomapan Creative 200 (iso 160) on iso 800. I like this emulsion much more for a push development. This film emulsion is a mix between classical cubical crystals and hexagonal halogenide crystals. It gives an old fashion look. A perfect match in Rodinal 1+50.

Here an example of this film on iso 160 in Para-Amino Phenol (Rodinal type):

I am just starting to use the 4x5 version of Foma 200-Arista.EDU.Ultra 200 (Freestyle). I have developed a few sheets in Xtol, 1:3, 68F, 10 minutes, continuous agitation. I like it.

pesphoto,
Please post some images when you get
the time. I haven't had the chance to shoot
any of the rolls that I bought.
