After seeing the performance of the lens on this forum I fell in love with the look of this lens.

Here are some of my 'test shots' of my kids. I'm really pleased with the lens.

Stop it. Never ever do this again. I am Done.

Lovely! Simply lovely! Children & photos.

I am done. Do you hear me? Done I say!

Looks like you nailed the focus nicely. That is often a problem with the very narrow DOF when this lens is wide open. Which RF body did you pair it with?

Truly beautiful shots!! Thanks for posting.

I'm interested in 85/2 and 105/2.5, Does anyone have any experience in these lenses? which one is better?

Hard to say, they are both very good, in particular at f2.5.

The 85 focuses closer. The 105 is just a little more contrasty.

Roland.

Roel,
Excellent shots with the 105 lens. Well done.
The 105mm lens seems to be sharper to the eye than the 85mm lens, but as Roland stated above, it could be the extra contrast that is perceived as sharpness.

Now that's creamy bokeh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I swear I'm going to try out my 100/ 3.5 Canon this weekend....after having it for two years w/o ever using it.

Is this lens the same as the Nikon SLR mount Nikkor-P 105/2,5?

That's one beauty of of this lens, it doesn't cost too much in LTM.
Should set you back US 300 or less.

Roland.

Whoa! That's quite a premium just to use it on a Leica. I got my 105/2,5 Nikkor-P in Nikon SLR mount (which it seems is the same Sonnar-type lens) for $50 USD. Also got a MINT Nikon FM2 (early one with titanium honey-comb shutter) for $150 USD. Both on this site. Would be nice to have the 105/2,5 in Leica mount to use on my MP though....

I hope it ok I show a couple of examples of this lens from my Nikon SLR version?

Good stuff Rich. Hope we meet at some point and you can borrow my LTM one
for a few days to try on your MP. Or let me know when you meet Andy
the next time.

Best,

Roland.

Thanks Roland, that would be cool. Roel's too show what a wonderful "classic" look this lens gives---especially for those random, less formal portraits. Just different enough from my 90/4 Elmar-M (yes, with some haze!) from the sixties to use along side sometimes....

Hi Ray,
Thanks, there were some photos just off. But that was also because of the moving kids.
I took these with the M4.

Hi Rich,

Great photos. What a nice lens this is.
My lens is a black one that was a bit in higher in price. But I'm a happy camper (and considering to sell my Leica 90/2 AA)

Thanks to everybody for the nice comments.

Well you know Raid, if I remember correctly it was you and the test photos you took with this lens that made me notice this beauty. Thank you for that!

Ohh that`s nice, not too high, pretty good deal and together with a Nikkor Varifocal a practical and useful combo :D

Tom

I've used both the 105 & 85 in:

Nikon F Non AI early versions

LTM chrome versions (and the 135mm as well)

And I have the 105 f/2.5 black for Contax RF that I use now.

The problem with the 85mm f/2 and the 105mm f/2.5 lenses is that they are both outstanding!!!

I'm in the market for an 85mm f/2 Nikkor for the Contax as I miss my 85 LTM since I sold it a year or so ago.

While the lenses are reasonable, the Nikon BL finders are not. It took me a year to track down the 105 BL Nikon Finder. The damn thing cost me close to $400 but with the Contax IIa I needed a BL finder. My 90mm finders were off just enough when used with the 105mm f/2.5 to make me mad. I tried to find a Canon BL 100mm but they are rare and have the coupling pin to auto adjust paralax so it would not work so well on a Contax. I bit the bullet and paid the dough for the finder. It's done so I don't worry about it.

At least with the 85 I can use my Zeiss finders.

Using both Leica & Contax lets me pick different lenses as my mood changes.

You can never have too many Nikkors for your RF cameras!
