first shot with d2 out of box, no tweaks.

I just unpacked my digilux 2, set it to "A" with the bounce angle flash..straight out of the box with no tweaks to the camera or image...the living room was pitch dark except for the tv running and some light from behind me. I shot at 28mm and had 1.4 ft selected with aper at 2....here is the result. my mouth about dropped open. amazing. it's like someone turned all the lights on in the house. i can't believe it..

Glad your D2 arrived safely, and you are already enjoying it.
 
Thanks..we are having snow storms in the mid west, so I only get to play with it in the house. what happened to global warming? i want to go outside!
 
that is sweet! I'm having basically the same results from my new (3 day old) Panasonic DMC-FZ20 (also with a Leica lens)

in fact, I just took a similar shot (dark room, with flash only) and got almost exactly the same image.. except my room isn't as tidy as yours, and I don't have the bounce flash option, so the lighting is a bit more direction

I won't come over with my R3A unless your house is tidy. :D
If you would of purchased the Panasonic DMC LC-1, we would of had the same camera with the angled flash...not sure why Panasonic didn't do this with the DMC. Prob because they wanted it to be more of a Dslr camera. Are you going to post a picture?
 
I actually discovered the FZ20 while I was researching the LC-1 (after I first became enamored with the D2)

the FZ20 is a pseudo SLR, rather than RF.. but the price was half of the LC-1, and I kinda liked the ultra zoom capability, which is astounding to see in action

I've got a pair of 'near' and 'far' comparison shots that would shock you all.. I just need to figure out how to post them.. LOL
