First tests with J-12

So, finally, today I had an opportunity to shoot with my J-12.

What I already secretly expected came true: this is yet another lens that desperately needs a hood. It was very overcast and grey today but still it flared like made.

The out of focus areas are quite soft under f5.6.

The image looks quite soft at f2.8 but from f4 things look nice.

I guess this lens won't come with me to Mongolia right now. I doubt I'll be able to get a hood in time. BTW, what is the filter size for this lens? My 40.5mm yellow filter doesn't fit.

Odd, the lens is supposed to be 40.5...

Btw, when I fit my metal 40.5 hood on it, the front part of the lens starts to collide with the back of the hood when the focus is around 1,2 meters, meaning your closest focus distance now is that one...

It will depend on each hood, however...

Taffer, it seems you're right!

I sat down a minute to do some relaxed filter screwing, and Yea! the yellow filter fits. So, I took off the collapsible hood of the M-Rokkor, and that one fits too. :)

Dang, it seemed I had a reason to not make haste with finding a hood, but 40.5mm hoods are easy! Will this lens come to Mongolia after all...?
