I have a Contax TLA30 and a TLA200. The former is my serious flash since it has a tilting head and takes normal AA cells and the later is my nearly pocketable travel flash and sparebattery holder :)

Used it twice in Madrid lately inside the small chappel adjacent to Almudena.

If you use a flash for weddings on a G1 or G2, make sure you use a flash bracket. You really need it. Otherwise use strobes and a pocket wizard.

For weddings and stuff, you might be better off with a more manueverable flash that has bounce and swivel and tilt capabilities, like the cheap sunpaks and vivitars. I've used them, and they work great. Small concern about trigger voltage, I don't know if that element applies to regular cameras vs. digital ones... *shrug*

Jano, in doubt all cameras with electronic shutter are better used with low voltage flashes.

The flash bracket has been mantioned and I like to add a long flash cord, than you can add a one of those safety hotshoe adapters which protect the cameras electronics from high voltages.

OTOH, a small Contax G looks a bit weird on a flash bracket
