Does anybody still use Flickr?
The site is miserable to use with one uploader that does not work and another new flash one that takes 60 sec + for a low rez 4x6 pic. The one that does not work, indicates it is working but the pics never get there.
I have a free lifetime pro account that I consider worthless. There used to be people here who used it.

I use it all the time. Just uploaded three pictures that I will be pasting into a W/NW thread here in just a minute. I haven't had any problems uploading.

I use my "free" lifetime pro account everyday and I've never had any uploading problems. Sorry I can't be of any help.

I use an uploader called "1001". It allows you to upload many images at once. I'm not sure if it works on PC though.

... likes film again.
No problems with uploading but the interface (groups, sets, tags) is very slow. I use Firefox and have to reload the page quite often (Ctrl + F5 on a PC), to empty the browser cache.

I use the uploader that's in the Flock browser (www.flock.com). It's easy, very easy. I have never had any problem.

Occasional hiccups, but no real complaint about uploading.

I use it all the time. Brilliant site, very easy to upload and some very useful free tools added on to boot.
My only gripe is that I wish I could change the background from white, although I do use flickriver.

I use FlickrExport for iPhoto. Can't say I've had any significant issues uploading files to Flickr in the years I've been using it.

I've tried both their uploaders, they both worked for me. I went back to the old one, because I like it best. But I really wanted to have both. This didn't work. You might try 'the other uploader' and see if it is better.
At one time I could get my (or anyone else's) slideshow to work and I had to upgrade to Internet Explorer 7, you might try that too.

I use their Mac client and it works just fine. I rarely have issues with the service taking a long time. Sometimes the service can be slow, but I don't find this to be the case too often.

it's just hide and seek
I also use Flickr and just bought myself a "pro" account.
I'm very happy with it, although I wish that I could get more comments on my photography overthere.
I use their regular uploader on the site and have no problems at all. The only thing that can happen once in a while is that you have to clear the cache to be able to put photos into groups, because the flash based group page won't load.

I like Flickr. I have not had the problems you mentioned. It sounds extra-ordinary.
I have learned a lot from other photographers through comments and seeing their work. It's a nice community to try things out but not what I would call a place to present yourself as a professional.
I hope there is an easy answer to your problems. I try to only upload a photo a day to keep my stream interesting and the quality at the highest level I can.

Thanks all. I used the flash uploader again this morning, still one minute per 4x6 low rez. I just loader 20+ pic and used the computer for something else.
The latest file transfer uploader 3.5 from Jan 2008 still does not work. It says it is transfering in process, just never get anything done.
I have a Mac.

No problems here. I like the old uploader best, and it can be a little slow mid-day here in the Pacific Times zone. All of this is running through Firefox 3.0 and a fairly fast 'pooter.

I use flickr and it is usually very functional. But just this morning I was uploading an image; it took an excruciatingly long time.

I've found that the secret to getting lots of views and comments on flickr is to post photos OF your camera rather than photos FROM your camera

I use ACDSee Pro v.2 and it has a Flickr uploader built in. Works like a charm.
