Hi,

My problem:

The shutter on my G1 won't fire when it sets focus with my Carl Zeiss Contax Zeiss Biogon T* 28mm. The problem occurs with auto focus or in manual mode. The camera sets exposure, but doesn’t fire. The camera operates properly with my Carl Zeiss Sonnar 90/2.8 T. What gives?

Has anyone experienced this problem? If so what did you do to correct it.

Can anyone provide an internet link that discusses this problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

How does the Distagon connect to the camera? Through the Contax lenses to G converter, adapter? Or are you by chance talking about the Contax G 28mm Biogon lens?

I made a gross error in the title. It is a Contax Zeiss Biogon T* 28mm. Why I wrote the wrong lens is beyond me.

I attach the lens directly to the camera.

I should say more about the lens. It was a gift from a friend. He found it a flea market for next to nothing. He figured for what he paid for it might have problems. I would like to try to get it work.

I know that the 21mm and 35mm, which I do not have, need a firmware update to work on a G1. The camera I have does not have the update or green label. Could this be the problem?

Sorry, for mislabelling the lens.

Mike

It is a terrific lens, sometimes I carry the 90 and the 28mm on two bodies, but mostly use the G2 if I am shooting film.

It would be worth servicing or having it looked over if need be.
