Hello friends:
Need some advices here: the focusing ring on the canon 50mm 1.4 is getting loose¡¡¡ still can focus, but is getting more and more loose, it moves from front to rear maybe in 2-3 mm. :(
Is there a DIY adjustment??, how can be tighten this focusing ring??
Thanks in advance..
Bob.

Assuming you are talking about the 50/1.4 LTM.

If you have never cleaned a lens, this shouldn't be your first, and you might want to send it to Sherry.

If you have, the Canon is pretty easy: remove the span ring from the back, take the optical barrel with aperture out, and disassemble the focus barrel by removing pieces from the front. Several things can cause a loose focus, you'll have to see. The focus ring itself is attached with several screws that you will see as soon as the optical barrel is out.

Good luck,

Roland.

Hi Roland:
I did it..¡¡¡¡¡...I found the four little screws loose...so just thigten and ready...
Thx again....

You might want to put a little Loctite (blue) on the threads of the screws to make sure they don't come out again. Make sure both threaded surfaces are clean of oil before you do. If not, clean w/ a solvent like acetone--not lighter fluid.

Great, Bob ! Enjoy your new lens :) Bill's comment is good. If you don't have loctite, a tiny bit of nail polish works, too.
