I just got a Nikkormat FT2 as a gift for a friend, and I was checking that all its functions worked. During the check I noticed that the split image in the finder was excellent and seemed much better than either of my rollei (2.8E & 6006) viewfinders. The same can be said for the micro-prism ring around the split image.
Is the consensus that 35mm split prisms are just easier to use / produce? Would a 45 / 90 degree prism on the 6006 provide similar quality to the Nokkomat screen? Now that I've seen how well the split image can work, I'm eager to improve its performance on my 6006 & 2.8E.
