I just bought a 100 ft of fomapan 400, actually arista edu ultra, but it's really foma. I'm actually really enjoying it, I've been developing it in Xtol and I like the results. I like to be able to push my 400 film to at least 800 but up to 1600 so I can just buy a whole bunch of one type of film (student very low budget) and always be ready. So my question is does anyone have any experience pushing fomapan 400 to 800 or 1600. I've heard it doesn't push very well as it's not a T grain, but I figure I can get it something to work. I'm thinking that HC 110 might be the best developer???

I used Fomapan 400 in D-76, and this is not your best choice for pushing. True film speed felt like maybe 200, and push to 800 was already noticeable, to the point that I didn't bother going further.

here http://www.flickr.com/photos/38683609@N00/sets/72157594444433813/ you can see Fomapan 400 at 800 ASA developed in Adox A49.
It's not my photographie but I was the "developer" hehe

I'm thinking of something like a b dilution of HC-110 with a semi stand development. Thoughts?
