I've just developed my first roll of Fomapan 200, and I must say I am highly impressed. Now I can finally let go of my APX jones...
T-Max developer, 1+4 at 20C for 5:30. Great tones, scans beautifully, no curl to the negs, and thin , it slides so easily into the negative carrier of my Epson 4180. Most importantly, it gives, as someone else pointed out, that "Fritz Lang" look.
I have heard it said that Freestyle Photo sells this film under its Arista brand as "Arista.edu", is this true?
Very inexpensive. I'm eager to order a brick or two if this is so.
Attached are some examples.
Neither were taken with rangefinders, they were both shot with a Zeiss Ikon Contaflex I. The tattoo shot was done using a 1.7x Zeiss Teleskop accessory lens, effectively an 85mm portrait lens.
The film is the thing.

Freestyle's Arista.EDU Ultra 100 is Fomapan 100, I know that. Don't know about any of the other speeds though. Roman (where is he?) reckons that Fomapan 100 is the closest he has seen to Agfapan 100 BTW.

It's capable of a really old fashioned look, kind of like Alvin Langdon Coburn or maybe Fritz Lang, depending on how you process it. It even has that effect reversal processed by dr5.
