To me the bible of our craft still remains to me to be the classic book by Roger Hicks and his better half Frances Schultz, "Rangefinders, Equipment, history, techniques". this is it par excellence. I frequently go back to the technique section to review their excellent advise on metering, etc. Strictly film but the information is timeless. bravo or as Roger says, Cheers!

BTW I would also add the excellent read by Bryan Peterson, "Understanding Exposure" which transcends all types of cameras, including digital in its advice. (Now I am being just plain fatherly) But Roger's book stands alone IMHO.

Sadly, my reader is the old Kindle, sort of text only. Maybe someday.
Ah, that's the cunning part. All of my e-books so far have been PDF, so they work on Kindles too -- try downloading a sample from the site, http://www.rogerandfrances.com/e-books.html

Yes, it would be HEAVILY updated -- including digital, for a start, because the Epson has come and gone since the book came out, never mind Leica. The main thing that's stopped me doing this earlier is that the old edition is still (nominally) in print. The publishers were interested in a reprint but not in a second edition, and my view is that a reprint would now be simply too outdated. If there's enough interest on RFF, I'll lean on them some more.

Cheers,

R.

Updated -- definitely. Don't own an e-reader so a hard copy would be lovely.

I have to say that R&F's "The Lens Book," "The Film Book," "Perfect Exposure" and "Medium and Large Format Photography" as well as their books on darkroom and black & white photography have been companions of mine for years.

For sure, I have many of these as well. And I miss there insightful reviews of RF's on Shutterbug.
