Too many cameras means that not all of them are getting the use they deserve - especially some very nice ones. Since I got my ZI Contessa 35, this has become all to apparent... 😉

So I have a nice example of the Agfa Karat 36 fixed lens rangefinder. It has a Syncro-Compur shutter and the 50/2.8 Solinar lens. It's in Ok cosmetic shape, the helical was degunked and relubed by me when I got it, once cleaned the shutter is close enough that I had no trouble with the slide film I ran through it, but there is a crack in the rear view finder glass. I don't notice it when my eye is up to shoot, but it is there.

I'll give it to the student (BA/BS program or below) that gives me the best reason to. Let's say by Monday at 6:00 PM CDT? I'll send it worldwide, though it may be by slow boat to save on costs. Hm? Oh, yes, I'll pay the postage too. That's why I want a good reason... 😉

If I didn't have the Karat IV (or, you know, the M2 =P) I'd jump on this.

These are nice little cameras, that take excellent pictures. (The Karat IV has the same lens.)

There's a student here who's going to have a lot of fun with that little gem!

Umm, HS senior going to Missouri for photojournalism. Currently has 3 cameras, as noted in signature. Always willing to accept more cameras for use under extreme weather conditions where previously mentioned cameras will not do or are too expensive to do.

I dunno if this'd count as a good classified, but it is all I could think up.

edit: and I live relatively close to you.

Thanks, William. With the lens collapsed, is it smaller or thinner than a CL with the Elmar 3.5? I'm guessing that it's probably heavier.

Sorry, it's been bugging me for a long time.

Yes, it's about as thin as my CL with the Canon 28/3.5 mounted (Collapsible lenses don't collapse as far on the CL so one of those is actually thicker 😉 ) And it is a heavy old girl but it handles nicely.

The only reason I'm giving it away is that since I got my Contessa I have hardly touched it. It's kind of like George Harrison - a great song writer cursed to be in a band with 2 legendary song writers... 🙂

My Industar-22 Elmar copy collapses almost completely (but safely) on mine, just stopping on a metal bar which is right in front of the meter stalk. The total width of camera and collapsed lens is a little shorter than the width of a credit card.

I had a series of panic attacks when I feared my CL would not be as thin as one of these 'legendary' pocket cameras. But at least it has a meter.

Hmm. I wouldn't trust the I-22 I had or the I-50 I currently have on my CL. My collapsible Summicron suits it just fine... 😉

Oh, and BTW, this is a bump in case there are any other students that haven't seen the thread.

William

Yep, that's the one. It is a really fine little camera - it's just the Contessa is that much nicer.

Edit: Ack. Just realized it _was_ the Contessa I had along that day. Oops!

Hi there, heres my pitch for that lovely camera of yours. No im not a photography student but im currently finishing off my BSc in Ecology and Biodiversity with honors. After my digital camera crapped out on me, i have only one camera that works which is great because i rediscovered film again!!!!!
Apart from my studies i have to put together a photo protfolio for my next coruse (natural history filming) and having two cameras out with me would be great (also im a sucker of vintage cameras)

Unfortunatly i live in New Zealand (kinda far away) but im willing to pay some of the shipping fee (or all of it depends on the price)

Cheers
PS (if you would like tosee some of my work go to....http://www.roadworks.co.nz/roadworks/gallery/Default.asp?page=62

Cheers

After a bunch of pondering, re-reading of submissions and a glass of wine, I've decided the Agfa needs a home in New Zealand. Thank you everyone, I had many very good submissions and it was not easy to decide who to give it to. I may have to weed out some more cameras in the near future, so if you didn't get this one, perhaps the next one will be your turn.
