I recently obtained a 75mm C-V Heliar as a lightweight alternative to my 75mm Summilux [which I have trouble focusing reliably anyway]. It seems ti be an excellent lens, but it also seems to have a significant front focus problem on either of two M8 bodies. In this case, it's about 4" at f2.5 with camera to subject distance set at 9 feet, and about 2-3" at about 5 feet. I've tried it with both Leica and C-V [v2] M-adaptors. This makes it tough for low-light portraits. BTW, I used the 1.25X magnifier.
Is this likely to be par for the course with longer than 50mm, or is it specific to this lens family? Has anyone else encountered this, or is just my aging eyes and 7 diopter myopia, and an artifact of my glasses?
Thanks, in advance,
Norm
