I have none of old Sonnar lenses, but J-3 and 11.
read somewhere that J-3 and Sonnar Jena 1.5 lens heads can be fitted other lenses barrel. by checking pictures from J-11 (thin version) and Sonnar Jena 135/f4, these two lenses seem very close by design.
does this same principle work also with J-11, meaning J-11 was not only copied optics wise but rest of specs as well ?
my idea would be of course to be able test old Sonnar optics that were made for Contax, for instance on a modern M (perhaps one day even digital) without adapting the lens itself
edit: and here was my source about J-3.

Why, that camera looks a lot like mine.

The CZJ 5cm F2 Collapsible optics module will fit on the J-8. I have done 8 or so of those, currently have three.
The CZJ 5cm F1.5 pre-war and wartime will fit in the J-3. I have done 8 of those conversions, currently have three.
The CZJ 8.5cm F2 optics module will fit in a J-9. I verified that using my "new condition" J-9, and am waiting for another donor J-9. I put my J-9 back together with the Russian glass.
The CZJ 13.5cm F4 will fit on the J-11. I am currently converting one.
I've been documenting converting and rebuilding Zeiss lenses on the ziforums.com site.

Converting the Ziess lenses to LTM is definitely worthwhile. Figure the cost is about 1/2 of buying a Zeiss lens made originally in LTM.

Converted CZJ 5cm F1.5, wide-open on the Bessa R2.

heh. thanks Brian
edit: so it seems that only LTM-Jupiter where above technique cannot be used is 35/2.8 J-12 ?

I have not tried that one yet. I think it will work, but do not have the pre-war Biogon. I have verified that the others work.
I'm looking at my J-12 with some separation, and wondering if a Nikkor 35/2.8 from a dead P&S might go into it.
