why is it so long?
does it really need to be the size it is?
has anyone subbed another hood for it?

Its so stupidly huge hey! I just used it without the hood. Flares sometimes but the flare is kinda interesting.

i just read elsewhere that the hood for the 35/1.4 works well on it!

I like to keep my lens hoods on all the time. The 60's hood is do deep I can't reliably fit the pinch lens cap to it. I am going to look for a cap for the opening at the end of the hood.

The whole point of lens hood is to be as long as possible to block as much stray light as possible, isn't it?

it wasn't a very hard test...i have shot the 60 before w/o a hood and it was fine...but i really prefer a hood on my lenses, in general.
thanks...the first shot is of our art gallery...lots of metal and glass.

Hmmm. I think I'll try it stopped down all the way and see what happens.

you're worried about the corners?

Not worried. Just want to assure myself all is good before ordering a new 35 lens shade for the 60. An added advantage would be the already-furnished cap so that I could keep it on all the time as I am wont to do. I'd better check and see how much those critters are.

i need to email fuji directly as i can't find the hoods advertised anywhere.
right now i'm just shifting the hood back and forth as needed.

You're right. Not to be found singly. I just tried some snap caps on the round hood. 72mm was a little too small. 77mm was a little too big. It measures about a 3" diameter. maybe I could find a plastic spray can cap to fit it. Or carry it face down in the camera bag.
I'm tired of thinking about it!
