Hi
seems the FUJI films are most favourite ? There are some diffeent types of Velvia,
any specific preferences that yo guys have ?
Was reading Lee Frost panoramic book recently, almost all panos were done with Velvia.

Seems I am flooding the forum here 🙄 today.

Velvia 50 discontinued - some stocks available. Velvia 100 is its replacement. Lee Frost was using the 50, as did many landscapers. if you liked the 50 buy what yo ucan now and fill the deep freeze!

Don't forget a centre grad on the Xpan, unless you like a vignetted look. (I am struggling to get one at the moment. Xpan stuff is hard to get now that Imacon have decided to kill the Xpan - shame on them.

I lent my Xpan to my uncle a couple of months ago for a trip to Tokyo (he had been wanting to borrow it for ages). To my surprise he decided to use Fuji Superior 400, a very 'consumer-oriented' (as opposed to 'professional') film. He had all the shots printed at PeakImaging at 5"x14", and they were magnificent. I know this is only a small enlargement given the size of the neg, but the images were grainless. What really impressed me was the tonality - such lovely transitions, and no over the top colour as I was expecting.

One shot of some prayer boards took my breath away - wonderful composition and wonderful deep blacks. I thought negative film was supposed to be weak at recording shadow detail? In this shot, there was plenty there, and I get the impression that if it had been shot digitally, you could have waved goodbye to those highlights...

Needless to say I've bought myself some of the stuff in both 35mm and 120. Looking forward to seeing what I can get out of it....

Kodachrome.

I just shot 40 rolls of it on assignment in New Mexico. In the Pan, it is stunning, especially the rare 25 stuff.

Just got my fortia slides back - holy batman, they look awesome.

when I figure out what i'm going to scan them with.. i'll post them 😀
