A while back, I bought an absolutely pristine GW690II in the box. Every now and then, it would exhibit frame overlap, which is something apparently not uncommon with these cameras. I sent it off to CameraWiz for overhaul but he declared nothing wrong with it, so I did a bit of poking and have, I believe, now resolved the problem doing the following:

  • You have to work the camera regularly moving the film advance and firing the camera before loading film. You need to do this for each of the film length selectors on the top of the camera. (Don't forget to set it back to the real film length you're using before loading film. That's how I got a 4 exposure roll of 120.)
  • The film needs to be loaded tightly onto the take-up reel when loading. Do this by keeping pressure on the new film roll backing.
  • It is important to ensure that the film covers both top and bottom gears of the shaft just to the right of the take-up reel.
  • Before closing the back, gently pull up on the leaf spring loaded stainless steel shaft on the inside of the back. This is used to keep constant pressure on the take-up side of the film transport.
  • Make sure to fully advance the film with each stroke until the advance lever stops on each stroke
