From DPReview's Photokina interview with Toshihisa IIda of Fujifilm:
DPR: Do you see opportunities for more Instax incorporation into your traditional camera lineups?
Fuji: Yes, Instax are already becoming digital cameras. Maybe we should think about interchangeable lens Instax. One of the biggest features for mirrorless cameras are interchangeable lenses, so Instax is one of our opportunities.

Not clear whether he means a digital-capture hybrid like the SQ10, or direct Instax capture with interchangeable lenses.

How about starting out with a decent-and-focusing-lens-instax. Not expecting much, scale focus and slightly better performance than what they have now would be great.

Lomography is your friend, then.

Fuji's Instax 500AF had auto focus and used the wide film. It was the best performing Instax made, and gave really sharp, in focus (!) pics. Much better than the really expensive MiNT RF70.
But Fuji for some reason replaced it with the much crappier fixed focus Instax Wide 300.
So Fuji, howzabout making the 500AF again?

Also expecting the ability to not blow highlights in direct sun. :bang:

A camera that lets you get it right the first time... is not a good camera for the film manufacturer

I spoke to the Fujifilm representatives at Photokina last month and they hinted at great developments in the Instax line in the near term future. One of the beauties of Instax is there is something for everyone! Obviously he did not want to play all his hands so we shall wait and see. Fujifilm sold 6.6 million Instax cameras last year and they expect to do even better this year.

No, if the review I saw is correct, the Lomo whatsitcalled (for instax wide film) simply maxes out at EV 16 or 17.

I'd try instant if there were bigger prints, quality lenses and an ability to have a negative for enlargements.

The image quality of the $1000 MiNt cameras are much worse than the (now only $88 on sale!) Fuji Instax 300. Which is much worse than the camera it replaced - the Fuji 500AF.

I have a basic Instax Mini, and the 'expensive' one. Pics are exactly the same. Fuji only offers different styles, not quality of imaging (being able to focus etc).

Exactly!
I'd also like having more emulsions, but that is never going to happen either...

I think that there is a fair chance that Mint will figure out what went wrong with the lens and will fix it or simply accept the fact that users expect more IQ for that kind of money...

I have a Century Graphic. An Instax insertable or 6x9 Graphic back would give me the Instant Camera "everyone" wants. FPJ

Yup I agree. That's why I got myself a converted MUP!
