I am in the process of writing a Fuji X-E1 review and I'm trying to figure out how to use the H1 and H2 settings while shooting in RAW for some high ISO samples and it does not seem to work.

Is this a limitation of the camera or am I doing something wrong?

I have never used an iso that high before.. But if memory serves me correctly, this is only allowed in jpg mode.

I believe similar to what Nikon has done in the past.

Right, it does some tweak in jpg that would be the same as adjusting the exposure in raw by up to 200%.

You can't beat raw, but you have to work hard to beat the jpg with the x series.

Almost certainly H1 an H2 ISO are pointless for raw. Above ISO 1600 the integer numbers written to in-camera raw memory and obtained by digital multiplication, not be electronic amplification. Unlike the X100 I am aware of no data in the public domain to confirm this for the XP or XE. It is possible electronic amplification is used at ISO 3200.

Because I never record jpegs, I never increase ISO above 1600. I just under expose and do the digital multiplication myself using the exposé parameter in Lightroom.
