If you go to Fujis web site, you will notice X series for the X100. Fuji has other cameras listed in "series" and they are different models in a alphabetical or numerical classification. I may be wrong, but X series implies more than one model, so our wish for an interchangeable lens version might be in the cards for the future!!!!!

Well, I just see it as they started a category for the X100... what other series would they have used?

Fuji has a track record. Based on 20 years of their MF cameras, expect a x100w with a 22-23mm equiv fixed lens. And then minor revisions to each of 2 cameras, for 15 years.

They probably just use it so they can put out a 24mm wideangle version and call it X100W and sell it for $1500 in good Fuji tradition. And the next model 1.5 years down the road will be the X102.

But then for all you M-mount holdouts I guess hope really does die last.

On photonet, someone posted that there is both an interchangeable lens version of the X 100 being planned and a simplified version of the present x 100 in the works as well....for what its worth

If they didn't build out this system I think they would be missing a great opportunity to define their presence in the pro digital camera market. If Leica can sell all those M9s and X1s, Fuji can absolultely outdesign Leica and bite into that market.

If they lose the LCD I'm in!

That's very unlikely and IMO it's counter productive to digital shooting where precise exposure can often be very necessary and the histogram is your friend.

I have never understood reasoning that says a digital camera can be improved in this way.

YMMV of course. (and obviously does) :D

Fuji will bring out a 28mm equivalent. That's the widest thing the company has believed in for decades.

There was not so long ago the Fuji Natura Black with 24/1.9 lens

For M-mount enthusiasts, the best long-shot hope lies in a consortium of Cosina, Fuji and/or Zeiss...

What kind of market are we talking about, out of curiosity?
How many M9's is Leica selling, any data out there?
I know they're not meeting demand, but that doesnt say much to someone thinking of getting in the market unless they know how much is the demand in absolute terms. If it's a very small market it might not be worth the investment.

One wonders how strong the ties are that Leica has with Panasonic... A future Fuji might just get rebranded next.

Quite possible. Alternatively, Panasonic and Leica may jointly come up with something similar and then call it something different - ofc to avoid getting sued. :D

@johnbo: I recall reading similar thing, but can't remember where exactly.

In short, I want to see someone (like Fuji, Zeiss, CV and so on) introduces some DRFs.

Its a great idea an X*** series. You only need four of five compact cameras in your camera bag to cover all focal lengths and you could have a DSLR equiva.........oh, I see, that sounds a bit stupid doesn't it, you could just buy an interchangable lens camera or is that missing the point?

Steve

The problem for me is that I'd still know it's there.
IMO it's a curse. I simply don't want it on my camera.
