Fujifilm X100T and new XF lenses announced

That x100T has some great new moves.
I like how fuji is staying the course. Still would like to see additional focal length cameras offered in this line.
An f2/50mm FOV would be sweet!
Thanks for the HU.

This new 56 is an interesting twist also.
I'm not interested in the bokeh feature coming at the expense of pdaf .
What's interesting is I don't recall it on the "roadmap"!
A refresh of the 35 off the roadmap would be great too Fuji!!
I won't even get started on a pancake series starting with re-loading the 60mm into a short fast lightweight focus-mount... and a lightweight f4/14mm :D
Oh wait, .. . I guess I did get started ;)

Apologies Murray.
Phase detection Auto Focus.

The primary differentiator between the xtrans1 and xtrans2 cameras is that the 2's have pdaf pixels on the sensor.
PDAF is an addition to contrast detection AF so... the new 56 still can still Auto focus using contrast just not make use of the pdaf.

The new "bokeh filter" interfere with the pdaf pixels according to tge dpreview article.

Excited about that electronic shutter. 1/32000 is amazing, but the best part is that it'll mean the XE3/XP2 will hopefully be completely silent/have higher flash sync rates.

what exactly is electronic rangefinder? i must've read that paragraph in the article 3 times -- do they mean that you can now use a super-imposed portion of the EVF that acts as a "RF-emulating" spot to focus?

what about parallax...?

edit: just read the posted Zack Arias article -- it does a lot better job of explaining the new implementation than the pretty pathetic job in the B&H product description. looks interesting, but the location is a bit weird. i don't think i'd like it in the bottom right, unless that location was always blocked by the lens, which it isn't. seems like it would be much better to stick it right in the center of the frame, no?

overall looks like a pretty cool piece of kit. props to Fuji (but i'm still waiting on that X1S FF w/ digital RF patch). still wish they would go a la Sigma and offer 3 different FL fixed-lens cameras though -- X124(T) X135(T) X150(T) -- rather than awkward/ginormous add-on lenses.

i wonder if i could take one in to Fuji's service center and ask them to remove/physically disable the wifi chip...

I kinda like the bottom right area as you lose the least amount of vf. I expect one of the issues is technical, since they're using a pop-up tab to darken the ovf in that spot.

Anyway, I hunk this is great! MF in the OVF is the only thing that's missing from my x100, and if fuji can manage to put it into he xpro2 for example, and it works as advertised, it'll be the best manual focus solution for these kinds of cameras, and a reason to leave leicas behind.

I like the concept of the improved hybrid viewfinder. Hope to have a chance to try it out soon.

And they didn't even think to make that pesky focus ring any bigger... So your still going to play hell squeezing your mits in there, hocus focus...

Still, they're making a go at it.
Thanks for sharing!

is it me or they decided to stick with the old X100 OVF/EVF switch instead of the curved one on the X100s?

some very minor upgrades and the Classic Chrome is the only thing I really want to try out.
if they release it for the X100 and X100s, I might buy a used X100 instead.

manual focusing doesn't mean to me on this camera as I like center-point AF ala Hexar AF.
I don't remember how smooth MF is on the X100 but as long as I can pre-focus it to 7ft easily, I'm happy.

fully agree with Zack though about the X100 series being my desert camera as well.
i've said it before and still believe it to this day but if I were to lose everything and get a new camera, an X100 would be it along the 28mm converter.

must have a look at what the X100T offers that my Fuji x10 and x pro 1 do not..................mind you I am happy with the two former cameras and will not be buying the x100t I am just curious

I'd like to see how this manual focusing using the OVF works.
Looks exactly like the hybrid VF which Nikon was rumored to have patented some years ago when folks were still believing in a digital Nikon rangefinder - instead we got the pure Df... :D
