I'm very pleased with these improvements.

Fujifilm has slowly (very slowly), but steadily made the transition from AF algorithms and cpus designed for 2/3" small sensor cameras to improved hardware and firmware appropriate for the APS-C surface area sensors.

This bodes well for the X-Pro 2 (or whatever replaces the X-Pro 1). I like using the X-T1, but I prefer my X-Pro 1 body and OVF for my every day carry.
