I did a quick search and it does not look like this has been reported elsewhere, but I apologize if I missed it...

Walgreens Studio 35 24 exposure ISO 200 35mm film (which is Agfa for sure, Agfa "Vista" I believe, but that last bit is just a guess) is $1 a roll. Not short-dated - I picked up four rolls, good until 2007. This is not bad film, folks. OK, not great, but really not bad and especially not bad for a buck a roll. Walmart had Polaroid 35 for 77 cents a roll a few months ago, but it was 12 exposure. This is a great deal for someone.

Here's a link, but you can pick it up at all local Walgreens. I was told it will be on sale all month.

Walgreens Studio 35 Cheap Agfa Film

I'm giving the rebranded Agfa another chance, having had an abysmal experience with their 800 film in low light. 🙁 I picked up 4 rolls of 200 and the first roll came out fine, although I do notice more grain than the Fuji 200 I normally use. (see attached) For the price it's not bad, but I think I'll mostly stick with Fuji which I can almost always get for $1 and change per roll.

I'm interested - where do you get Fuji film for a buck a roll? I can't find any that cheap online or locally. Buck and a half, best I can find.

Not a buck, but a buck and change, meaning less than $2 per roll. 🙂 🙂 I scarf up a few 4-packs when I see a good price on them. Usually places like Tar-jhay or Wally World.

Sometimes they have bonus packs, with some rolls 36exp and every so often a 5th roll, different speed or something.

AFAIK all Walgreens Studio 35 color print films are made by Agfa.
It ain't Agfa Optima Prestige, but they are all pretty good - Vista maybe.
To me the ISO 400 looks better than the 200.

My wife uses the 400. The 24-exposure roll four pack is usually
$6.99 in the store, sometimes less, and often carries a promotion
for free in-store processing for one roll, or a free picture CD, etc.

Speaking of Agfa film bargains, how about 27 cents a roll? :

The 400 is a buck at Walgreens right now, too. So still a bit cheaper than the $6.99 four-pack.

Nice nail on that one. 27 centavos/roll.

Hat's off!

Only the 200 is on sale at Walgreens.com:

I'll have to check my local store...

Beg pardon, Chris - my local store has the 200 and the 400 in the same bin, all marked (I thought) at $1. Could be a manager's error here locally. I will check again. I actually picked through and took several rolls of the 200, didn't want the 400. My bad!

Slightly OT- but can anyone tell me what they know about Konica Minolta Centuria Super 200 print film?

If you drop off a roll of 36 print film a "quicky photo store" I found here in NYC they will sell you two sets of prints plus a cd plus a roll of 27 exposure K/M (uses C41 processing) all for USD10.00!

Usually I shoot Kodak or Fuji transparencies (Elite Chrome (K) or Provia (F) or Sensia (F) etc.) and I use K or F mailers for processing.

So I don't yet know what the "quickie" would charge for transparancies and how good the quality would be.

That said, the prints I tried out were "spot on" and they used quality paper (don't have the prints on hand right now to tell you what paper it is).

I really can't figure out how these folks are making any money (espescially paying rent for a storefront in on 43rd St. & Lex. Ave. in midtown Manhattan - but that's there economics, not mine.

Bigger query for me is: should I use this Konica Minolta for anything "valuable" or just as "every day" shooting film?

I'd prolly use it until the promotion ends if it was convenient for me.

With due respect to Mr. Ellington, if it looks good, it IS good...

Chris, you're a brave person to give us all the link to an auction you're bidding on 🙂
