MickH, thanks for putting up this shot by petronius. I recall looking at the shot when it was posted and feeling sort of indifferent. But this morning, while walking my dog, the image came to mind and I found myself thinking on its simplicity and beauty. It was an enjoyable experience - affecting image.

Calling out the Big Guns!
Calling out the Big Guns!
Where are the people who post every week? C'mon you guys! This is a miserable showing this week. I'm about to take some of the pics from Monday to post just to add to the week. I was saving them for next week's selection.

The best camera is one that still works!
Thanks 'snausages' and 'adavis' ... much appreciated as ever!
I'm still restricted to dial up (two more weeks) for my connection so won't get too carried away but I did like these:
John TF's bathroom nude ... reminds me of the Sharon Stone movie!
And this by 'MV72' really caught my eye in the gallery thumbnails.

This image had a great impact on me...
Could you tell us a bit more about the story behind it?
I also like the tonality and composition of Todd's Lodestar (is it lith?)
Benjamin.

Hi Ben,
Thanks for the inclusion here ( and to LeicaM2fan.)
There's not much of a story I'm afraid. It was taken in Cambridge (UK) as I was due to do a portrait session ( about 15mins all in which is all I ever seem to get!) with one of the Deans of the college. As I approached the gate (M6 in hand) the college veterans that stand guard at the gates at this time of year shut the gate in my face with a very stern look. I took the shot, then explained who I was and why I was there. Once I'd done that the chap was very apologetic and explained that he'd let his exasperation get the better of him. Apparently they had spent most of the day chasing tourists out of the grounds that simply ignored the signs and their polite requests to leave the college grounds as the colleges are closed to the public whilst exams take place and exam results are posted.
He thought I was another tourist intent on simply pushing by and taking a snapshot of the students, though I have promised to send him a copy of my snapshot of him.
As I left I heard his colleague telling him he needs to 'be careful' incase a complaint is made, I think this 'thought' can be seen in the picture....only my opinion of course.
Hope that helps in some way.
best wishes
