How inviting it looks to dive into that cool shaded alley and explore the maze within, a bit like Alice looking down the rabbit hole. I liked the way a gap opens in the picture plane, showing the depths to be explored within.

Robert's photo lands us in the middle of the action, the theatrical lighting - and framing provided by both tree and audience - suggesting a performance, with the subject centre stage.
In medias res / EP1 IR © 2013 Rhl-oregon
The Biotar f1.5/75mm gives an unusual rendering to Andy's portrait of Banjo Legend Pete Wernick.
Dr Banjo © 2013 F16sunshine
Randy's series of the thunderstorm was quite spectacular. My favourite showed the lightning appearing as the wings of a giant bat, hovering malevolently over the church.
Untitled - Photo 215127 © 2013 Zauhar
Steve's shot of the three gents waiting in an otherwise deserted theatre is full of humour and pathos.
Let the show begin © 2013 Steve Kessel
I liked both of Mcary's nudes. I preferred this shot in the grain field for its tighter composition and use of metaphor. I also liked the play of shadows on the model's body.
Untitled - Photo 215096 © 2013 Mcary
Stuart's portrait of Emma's direct gaze makes a strong connection with the viewer.
Emma © 2013 Stuart John
I felt one could almost cut the air with a knife in Stefan's photo of two people in an intense emotional moment at the cafe Nero - an appropriate name given the mood, which appears equally dark.
Couples © 2013 Stefanjozef
This candid catch by Stefan uses sparse detail to focus attention on key elements.
Man with a hat © 2013 Stefanjozef
I enjoy Richard's keen observations on the street. I liked the contrast between the character in the foreground and the determined young man bearing down on him.
Untitled - Photo 215069 © 2013 Semrich
Contarama's picture of the child inside all of us made me smile.
Untitled - Photo 215063 © 2013 Contarama
Mikhail's photo reminded me of a David Hockney painting in its bright colour and careful composition.
Day at the sea © 2013 Mikhail
another shot by Mikhail that uses colour very effectively. The sign promises greatness, but the reality is somewhat different.
San Francisco Evening © 2013 Mikhail
I thought the colour in Doug's mannequin photograph worked very well, in this composition. She's quite a striking lady.

Keith's portrait brings out the subject's character. Beautiful light and tones.

Luigi commented that this Lisbon street photo by Rui Morais De Sousa is a classic, timeless image, and I had to agree.
Lisbon, July 2013 © 2013 Rui Morais De Sousa
another Lisbon shot, I liked the mood, composition, light and dof
Leica M9 - Lisbon, July 2013 © 2013 Rui Morais De Sousa
I like Luigi's use of colour, and the composition built around simple shapes that seem oddly dumped together in an otherwise empty, nondescript landscape.
On the road © 2013 Luiman
A great catch by Bushwick1234
In Vitro © 2013 Bushwick1234
Mike's cinematic shot of 4th Street reminded me of Hopper
4th Street @ Avenue A © 2013 Mlehrman
Richard's hotel staircase photo brings M C Escher to mind!
Untitled - Photo 214947 © 2013 Semrich
Pete Chipman's atmospheric Iceland photo reminded me of a Turner painting
Horses in the Fog and Sun, Iceland © 2013 Pete Chipman
…while the colour in this is stunning

J.scooter's beautiful portrait… I'd like to take portraits this good.
Untitled - Photo 214890 © 2013 J.scooter
wonderful capture by Rinzlerb of teenagers in the ocean. Beautiful mood and colour.
Untitled - Photo 214868 © 2013 Rinzlerb
The viewer cannot help but notice the distraction, while the gents seem very intent on their beers, or is it the reflection in the puddle?

really, any of the three in this set would have been appropriate here. this one is so pretty with the background converging on her head and her open facial expression.

by Richard G. This cat has a smug look. Think it realizes Richard G is photographing it in Rembrandt-like color.
by Daveoo and that light in the distance is so inviting. [/I
by lynnb "her big sister designed and made the outfit, as a birthday gift."
by Vince Lupo - The tones, the textures, the architectural features .......
by MLehrman - Beautiful - every inch of it. And the 'lit windows .....'
