Gallery Picks for Week Ending Mon June 11, 2012
Gallery Picks is an opportunity for you to post a heads up to what you have seen during the past seven days at RFF that you like.
There's no membership requirement, no criteria (except past seven days), no voting, no limit to the number of photos mentioned, and everybody mentioned is a winner.
Anybody can start the thread on a Monday.
Anybody can join in, it's a community event!
Here are my picks:
To start 2 from heartattackandvine.
1) I like the composition where the top of the tree leads my eye to it's reflection in the puddle. A definite shot for a suitable wall.
2) This just oozes mystery and the need to make up stories for it.
dotur, just gorgeous tones and details in this that give it a real old world appearance. This could have been taken a hundred years ago.
Bingley, I keep loving what I see from the little XA, mine bit the dust
. This shot is all about the empty chair matching the blue umbrellas.
Joao, a creative use of the patterns and shadows against the stonework.
print44, well seen and taken, I especially like the faint starburst of light coming out of the bright light of the seed head.
onur77, I like the multitude of straight lines, harsh contrast, and the interruption of the blurred movement of the guy in a hurry.
hteasley, beauty can be found in the simplest of things.

another good week!
untitled by BlackCamera~S.Smyth.
Sunrise in the Westman Islands, Iceland by Pete Chipman. Beautiful scene, good light and tonality.
Making Crack 1 by Michel154. Powerful image from a powerful series.
Blown highlights by Michel154. Beautiful portrait.
Veronica by Crazy Fedya. There's a spontaneity about this, and I liked the low camera position, light, tonality and shallow dof.
* by semrich. A decisive moment with that joyful leap. The girl leaning out the window addd the final touch. Nice framing.
Marie by Frost242.
Diamond Jubilee by OurManInTangier. Simon's eye in his usual good form for the Queen's Jubilee.
Trg by Kiev ilegelac. Beautiful light and lines in this street scene. The girl on the bike made it.
from the hip 02 by Luigi. For the expressions and composition.
Image 319 by ChEc. I thought the unusual colour and processing really worked.
two from filmfan:
Jupiter1 by filmfan
Cape Cod 2 by filmfan
lost afternoon by heartattackandvine. For its mood.
The Painter - ferider. Nice framing, light and Ektar colours - it looks like a painting, of a painter.

Slantface - top of the picks.
heartattack andvine
Crazy Fedya - a fascinating absence in this one. I love the darkness beneath the chair.
filmfan. Love these compositions. The focus/defocus and part forms. really fine.
Mlehrman
lynnb - stunning.
ChEc
Michel154 - the more graphic image of the spoon only lost out because I think the man's gaunt features say so much too.

robklurfield, my other favorite of the past week, even though it came in this morning at the start of another week. i had to click on it just from the strength of character in the man's face in the thumbnail alone. and then rob's story. wow.
