The camera sure looks nice (see the link with pictures on Picasa in the auction), but I don't know anything about the lens though; is it ok ? Did I pay too much ?

No you did not pay too much for this GREAT camera and lens.
Olympus was used everywhere in the states for medical stuff, macro, tubes, everything. They still are very good at making this type of lens and from what I remember reading you have a wonderful starting point.

...at least when it is o.k. - I myself wouldn't buy from sellers who write that they can't test, know nothing about cameras, blahblah. Hope, this works for you - good luck and hopefully have fun!

If it's working, great deal. If not, well, still not a bad deal, you'll just have to figure in the cost of an overhaul. That 50/3.5 is AWESOME by the way. So so sharp.

No one wins the battle with GAS. You think you defeated it, but that's only a trick of the monster. Great looking OM you've got. Looking forward to some shots with 50/3.5. I've never dealt with that specific lens. Very very curious. Congrats!

You're right, I know: in many cases, they are already looking for excuses to send a broken item ... We'll see; I had nothing but positive experiences on eBay Germany; mostly, items there are described very conservatively, with the smallest defects pointed out (at least in my experience).

I'm so sorry for you - having bought a most unreliable and poorly performing camera!
....the best thing would be to put it on the overnight ferry to Hull - from Zeebrugge, where a sympathetic old man who understands their peculiarities, will take it off your hands!
