my rina case was delivered today.
initial reaction is disappointment.

padding is thinner than i thought it would be. the photos of it made me think thicker, more substantial.

it seems really well made and very good looking, no beefs there.

occasional bumps might be protected from but i would not want to drop my camera while it was in it.

initial cost was $50.
shipping/postage was $33.
customs (handling fee) and gst was 11.14

thank goodness i got a great deal on the minolta 90!!
😉

Shipping was $33? I definitely didn't pay that. Mine didn't come from Japan.

Sorry you're not thrilled with it, Joe! I feel responsible!

I have dropped my bag with my M3 in it in the case and everything was OK, if that makes you feel any better. But you're right, I would not want to drop the camera just in this case.

i would never tell another how to feel...but this is not on you.

i made the decision.

shipping was from new york city.

anyway, i'll get over it. the good thing is is fits the m3 with lens/hood perfectly. and in the end it will do what i want of it; to sit on the passenger seat of my car and keep my camera safer.

Would go well in a "man-purse." 😉

Uhm, I have one, too.

I thought it was expensive, and tried a cheaper alternative, until the bottomplate of my M6 got a little dent in my backpack a few months ago.

MMM yes I see what you mean, looks like what we here would call a soap bag, the sort of thing you take on holiday to hold your razer, shaving foam and smelly stuff!!
But hey, if it works!!

$33 ???

shipping was from New York to where, the moon? i'm hoping that was next day delivery or something...

Looks like my Contax G double lens pouch. Amas comment when she picked it up for me "You spend 49 Euros on THAT?"

Never said a word about handbags since then 🙂

What is a rina case?

Here's my picture -- I DID try to warn y'all.

I still say it looks great in person and even better with a Leica in it so i wouldn't feel bad about the case at all joe.

It's very macho - for a makeup bag.

Makeup, Shmakeup.

Makeup, Shmakeup.

Seriously, Joe, I think it looks fine. Great, even.

If you can't tell, I'm revving myself up - ever since I was pointed to artistandartisan, I've been coveting those bags. The Rina is also on my short list.

Cheers,
--joe.

$33 for shipping? Let me guess: begins with an A, ends with an a, and you'd think it have something to do with "adorable" wouldn't you?

I've been thinking about those ... em... things. For my Precious. But I'm afraid it'd take even more room.

It takes up a negligible amount of room -- it's really just exactly the size of an M with a 50 and a hood. If it had seemed more padded I wouldn't have gotten it because I needed something I could slip into my purse, like so:

My "purse" is a Timbuk2 "Metro" bag that measures 10.5 x 8.5 x 4.5 in, for those who need a sense of scale.

It isn't a stand-alone bag at all. And yes, I think it does look like a makeup case. It's not really worth the price materials-wise but it was the only thing I could find that fit the bill for me. Also I was in a mood to buy nice things for my camera at the time I got it -- I'd only just started using my M3 and wanted to take care of it.

I can't get my mind around the $33 shipping -- I definitely didn't pay anything like that -- if they'd tried to charge me that much I would have said "thanks but no thanks." I don't know for sure but I think shipping for me was closer to $5.
